2021 Spring/Summer Fastpitch League

Fastpitch with Champlin Park Fastpitch Association is a competitive traveling organization. Games are broken up between home (at Champlin Park High School) and away (in surrounding communities). Practice is based upon the coach, but many teams will practice two nights per week. There are also weekend tournaments that are determined by team/coach.

Tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, March 7th, 2021 at the Champlin Park High School.

  • 9:00 AM – 12U Pitcher and Catcher Check-in and Warm-up
  • 9:30 AM to 11:30 – 12U Tryouts
  • Noon to 1:30 – 8U Tryouts
  • 12:30 PM – 10U Pitcher/Catcher Check-in and Warm-up
  • 1:30 PM to 3:30 – 10U Tryouts
  • 3:00 PM – 14U Pitcher/Catcher Check-in and Warm-up
  • 3:30 PM to 5:00 – 14U Tryouts

Registration for league play is required to attend tryouts.

There are no refunds of registration fees after tryouts.

Each family is required to complete volunteer hours to help with our tournament and season games. This helps us keep registration costs down. There will be volunteer hour buy out options again this year. We will announce details at a later date.

Organization Options: 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U

ASA Age Groupings are based upon the age of the player on Dec 31 of the previous year.

Example: 8U: 8 yrs or younger on this past Dec 31

If your 8U eligible daughter is interested in "playing up" to 10U, please select 10U at registration and she will be required to try out at both 8U and 10U levels. She will be placed upon the appropriate team commensurate with her tryout scores. (If she has played 10U in the past, it is not necessary to tryout 8U level).

If your 10U eligible daughter is interested in "playing up" to 12U, you will be required to petition in writing to the CPFA board before tryouts to tryout at the higher level. Please register at the appropriate age grouping and we will adjust based upon board approval and the play up placement policy.

League Fee:

  • 8U: $160
  • New Player to CPFA 10U - 18U: $260
  • Returning CPFA 10U - 18U: $360

These fees include tryouts, practices, fields, league games, umpires (no umpires for 8u), a full uniform, and two weekend tournaments, plus suburban league qualifier and state tournament.

Each level will be tiered by skill level determined at tryout and by coaches' and board's past experience with players.

Please review the Team Formation and Tryout policy available under the Association Docs tab on the website for additional details.

Registration is CLOSED.

CPFA Board Member Application

Are you interested in making a difference in the community? Are you interested in helping to develop our young ladies into leaders and athletes?

Joining the board is a great opportunity to help grow the program. Over the past year, we have heard some good ideas on things that people would like to see done. By joining the board, you can assist in helping make some of those changes and work to make the experience for the girls the best it can be. It is also a fun way to see how the Association works and get to know a lot of parents at all levels.

Board member level of commitment:

  1. Attend a monthly board meeting, typically the 2nd Sunday of each month
  2. Help in Association events such as clinics, tournaments, and league games
  3. Help promote the Association in the community
  4. 3 year commitment

To be considered, please complete the application at the link below. If we have a position become available, the board will vote for who they feel is best to represent our association as a member of the board. Please reach out to a current board member if you have any questions!

Covid 19 Update

Obviously, there will be some changes in how practices and games will look with the new MDH COVID19 safety protocols. Please take some time to review the Back to the Diamond Safety Guidelines attached below as well as all of the information on the Minnesota Softball site (link below).

Covid 19 Update

The Minnesota Youth Athletic Services/Gopher State Baseball, Metro Baseball League/Minnesota Baseball Tournaments, and USA Softball Minnesota/Minnesota Softball have joined together to submit a “2020 Back to the Diamond” proposal to the Governor regarding how to safely get our ball players back on the field. The Champlin Park Fastpitch Association is currently awaiting word regarding this proposal. When and if this proposal is approved, we will be ready to begin safely practicing. If you would like more information on this proposal, please see the full press release below.

2021 Spring/Summer Fastpitch League

Thank you for your interest in Champlin Park Fastpitch!

Fastpitch with CPFA is a competitive traveling organization. Games are broken up between home (at Champlin Park High School) and away (in surrounding communities).

Practice is based upon the coach, but many teams will practice two nights per week. There are also weekend tournaments that are determined by team/coach. The Association will hold a player/parent meeting before the season starts so teams can get to know each other and their coaches. In this meeting tournament schedules can be determined.

Try-out process

  • No refunds after team determination - Tryouts will be held in late Feb/early March.
  • Closed try-outs (parents cannot watch)
  • Coaches observe try-outs, but do not evaluate
  • Evaluators are independent volunteers

  • We will begin practices as soon as we can get on the fields (usually mid-April)
  • Games begin early May (coaches will provide exact schedules)
    • Expect one game/week while school is in session and two games/week at the end of the season once school is out of session
    • Games are double headers beginning at 6:15
    • You will have to travel to games in other communities within our Northwest region
  • Practices are at the coach’s discretion, but usually twice per week
  • Tournaments
    • The Association fees include registration entries into our home tournament, one tournament at your coach’s discretion, State qualifiers, and the State tournament.
    • Your coach may choose to register for additional tournaments. The team covers these fees. Higher-level teams typically enter an additional 3-5 tournaments; the lower teams do fewer. The individual fees depend on how many players are on the team and how much each tournament costs.

2021 Dates TBD

2021 Fees TBD

Volunteer hours

  • We are a volunteer-based organization and rely on families doing volunteer hours to manage our fields, concessions, and our tournament
  • We will offer an option to “buy out” of your volunteer obligation
  • We will have more information on this at the player-parent meeting

  • We do have a mandatory fundraiser that funds field improvements, new training equipment, and to help control registration fees

Please see the Player Development and Registration tabs for clinics and other training and development opportunities for your child.
